Insurance

You must be a member of USA Triathlon to compete in the race, including each relay member. If you do not have an annual membership, you must purchase a one-day membership for $12 during the registration process.

Rules

The race is a USAT sanctioned race so USAT rules are in effect. You must wear an ANSI-approved helmet during the entire cycling event. Headphones for music are prohibited during the race.

Age Requirements

You must be 17 years old or older to participate in the TOUGHMAN race (or 15 years old to be part of a relay team).

You must bring photo proof of identity and your USAT card if you have one. YOU CANNOT SEND SOMEONE ELSE TO PICK UP FOR YOU!

You are required to bring photo proof of identity. There are no entry transfers or substitutions.
Participants who swap or sell their race number without going through the race management, will not be allowed to race and lose all entry fees as well as be subject to disciplinary action by USAT.

Bike Check & Briefings

You may check your bike into transition on Saturday 1-7pm (again, highly suggested but NOT mandatory). Overnight security is provided.

Start Times

First wave goes off Sunday morning at 6:45 am. There will be approximately 6-8 waves by age groups with 5 minutes in between each wave. Transition open 5 - 6:20 AM on Sunday morning.

Aid Stations

There are 18 aid stations on the run course and a bottle exchange at the 18, 23 (water only) and 36 mile mark on the bike course. Aid is as follows:

Port-a-johns

During the race, there will be port-a-jonhs located at mile 18 and mile 36 on the bike. As will as the transition area exit and at miles: 2 ,4 ,6, 8, 10, 11 of the run.

 

Transfer/Refund Policy

There are no refunds.  We are offering legal transfers where you may sell or transfer your entry to someone else in the event that you cannot race.  All transfers will be honored through Saturday 8/18/12 and are subject to any additional RaceIt.com fees.

Athletes that are unable to race or transfer may receive a full deferral to the following year if they fulfill at least 4 hours volunteering for the race. Earning a full deferral for a 2012 entry means the entire entry fee will be credited towards the athlete's 2013 entry.

To defer you entry, please email us by Friday, 9/7/12.

Race Cutoffs

You must be able to complete the events within the following cut off times to avoid being pulled from the course for safety reasons:

  • Swim: 1 hour and 10 minutes
  • Swim/Bike: 5:10 hours
  • Swim/Bike/Run: 8 hours

Paratriathlete Category

We are pleased to offer a Paratriathlete category for physically challenged athletes. Registration open to USAT classifications Tri 2 -Tri 6. Wheelchairs are not permitted on the run course. Handlers may enter all athlete restricted zones with a wristband.

Post Race Food

Post race there will be pizza, bananas, Nestle water, Powerbar Perform, Cola, water and bagels.

Race BBQ

A BBQ for all athletes will be held on Sunday starting at 12:30 pm at the Finish Line Festival. We are serving chicken, pasta salad, salad, rolls, chips, and drinks. This BBQ is included in your entry. Additional tickets for family and friends will be available for $10 at the packet pick up or the BBQ entrance.

Opening Ceremonies

Opening Ceremonies will begin at 6:30 am

Expo

This year's TOUGHMAN Expo will take place at Croton Point Park during bag pickup on Saturday Sept 8th from 12-6 pm and Sunday 9 am - 2 pm.
Products will be available to rent for race day, or sample, view, and purchase. The vendor expo will be available for spectators Saturday, and Sunday during the adult race.
